Frozen function beverages company Blender Bites has partnered with Orgain, a plant protein powder brand, and American dancer and actress Julianne Hough to introduce a protein-enhanced smoothie, Superberry Sport 1-Step Smoothie.
The new product is aimed at supporting muscle recovery.
Andrew Abraham, Orgain’s founder and CEO, collaborated with Chelsie Hodge, CEO of Blender Bites, combining their expertise to create a USDA-certified organic blend that includes plant-based protein, tart cherry, maqui and goji berry, turmeric and B vitamins.
Julianne Hough, an investor in Blender Bites, also contributed to the development of Superberry Sport. "Creating a custom smoothie blend has been a dream of mine," said Hough. "I am a huge proponent of smoothies after my exhaustive workout and dance schedules, and I have seen firsthand how supplementing my body properly helps tremendously in my recovery. When the opportunity arose to create a custom formula with Blender Bites, I knew that I had to replicate my own daily smoothie."
Hodge commented: “We’re excited to penetrate the sports nutrition market alongside such a known and respected brand such as Orgain. By collaborating with Orgain, we were able to create a convenient and effective product that supports post-workout recovery.”
Abraham added: “Blender Bites’ dedication to convenience and clean ingredients perfectly complements Orgain’s expertise in creating delicious, plant-based nutrition. It was an exciting experience to work with the team in developing a 1-step smoothie that delivers on taste and provides post-workout support for active individuals.”
The smoothie will debut exclusively at BJ’s Wholesale Clubs nationwide from this month, with plans for wider availability at major retailers over the summer.
