Acquion Food Tech, a new Brazilian venture led by entrepreneur André Albuquerque, is beginning operations this month. Over the next four years, up to BRL 250 million ($46.6 million approx.) will be invested in Acquion, which will produce collagen and gelatin. The company's plans for the coming years include increasing production capacity and establishing new facilities around the world. The Acquion plant – located in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais – has started out with a production capacity of 3,000 tons per year. The company plans to launch the brands Cpure (collagen) and Gpure (gelatin) and deliver "the first collagen with 98% protein and 99% purity". Albuquerque commented: "We are taking the segment to another level, based on the premise of quality at an affordable price for the market and the final customer. It is the purest collagen on the market, produced in the leanest and most efficient industrial process with the best food technology in the sector."
