Mexican tequila producer Casa Maestri has acquired 100% blue agave tequila brand, Bellagave Infused Tequila, for an undisclosed sum. Bellagave Infused Tequila is available in two flavours, Mango-Jalapeño and Coconut. The tequila is low in sugar and has a lower ABV, making it ideal for consumers seeking a lighter option. The tequila is made at Casa Maestri Distillery with 100% agave blanco tequila. The agaves are cooked in traditional brick ovens and autoclaves and then shredded to extract the sugars. Bellagave uses a slow fermentation process and is double-distilled before being infused with natural flavours and reduced to 70 proof for an “easy drinking experience”. Jose Coira, VP of sales for Casa Maestri, said: “It’s a perfect time to innovate. The tequila segment is fast-growing and variations like flavoured tequilas are exploding in popularity with consumers. We are looking forward to bringing this 100% natural option to tequila lovers looking for a light, great-tasting beverage.” The acquisition follows Casa Maestri's purchase of Santera Tequila in January. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
