Diageo has commenced construction on an 8,800-square-metre facility in Tabanan, Bali, positioning it as a key supply hub for the Southeast Asia region.
Since establishing its factory in Indonesia in 2014, Diageo has produced several brands for the local market. In December 2021, it began exporting Smirnoff and Captain Morgan brands produced at the Tabanan to Thailand, the Philippines, Timor Leste, Singapore and Malaysia.
The new facility aims to boost Diageo Asia Pacific's contribution to the company's global product sales. The company said that today, 19% of Diageo's total sales are generated from Asia.
Aligned with its commitment to sustainability, the site will operate with 95% less energy than traditional production methods, supporting Diageo's Society 2030: Spirit of Progress 10-year ESG action plan.
John O'Keeffe, president and CEO of Diageo Asia Pacific, said: "The expansion of our strong supply hub in Bali is key to our wider regional strategy to better service customers and consumers across Asia Pacific and contribute to Diageo’s global ambition".
In addition, O'Keeffe also opened the Rumah Nyambu / Nyambu Sustainable Hub, a collaborative centre for the community to work with Diageo and other organisations on sustainability issues. The hub is a partnership among the Nyambu community, the Ecological Tourism Village, the Vishnu Foundation, and the Sustainable Environmental Bamboo Foundation, supported by Diageo through PT Langgeng Kreasi Jayaprima.
