Canada's Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, Lawrence MacAulay, has announced that the government of Canada is providing CAD 89 million (approx. $65.85 million) in funding to dairy, poultry and egg processors. The announcement took place at Lactalis Canada's cheese plant in Ingleside, Ontario, where MacAulay reported that the facility will receive up to CAD 3.34 million (approx. $2.47 million) to "enable a modernisation project" that will see the installation of new automated cheese processing and packaging equipment. Mathieu Frigon, president and CEO of Dairy Processors Association of Canada, said: “The Supply Management Processing Investment Fund has shown its value in leveraging increased investments from dairy processors in process innovation and upgrading plants. We commend government officials for their flexibility and responsiveness to the evolving needs of the dairy processing community in the administration of this programme.” You may also like to read:
