McCormick & Company has launched six limited-edition Holiday Finishing Sugars, designed to cater to the growing consumer interest in festive baking and beverage preparation during the holiday season.

Set to hit grocery shelves nationwide this October, these speciality sugars aim to provide both flavour and decorative appeal for seasonal culinary creations.

The new product line includes six flavours: Candy Cane, English Toffee, Salted Caramel, Hot Cocoa, Gingerbread Spice and White Frosting. Each variant is crafted to evoke traditional holiday flavours and enhance a variety of dishes and drinks, from baked goods to cocktails.

Giovanna DiLegge, vice president of marketing for North America Consumer at McCormick, said: "When we think about the holidays, we remember special moments from years past: cookie and ornament exchanges, scents and smells of family-favourite dishes, and warm beverages on cold nights".

She continued: "The new Holiday Finishing Sugars bring a sense of the season with a flavourful, decorative touch to baked goods or beverages. Get the 'ooh's' and 'aah's' out of family gatherings with this new, limited-edition collection."

These products align with broader trends in the food and beverage industry, where consumers are increasingly seeking innovative and convenient options for seasonal cooking and entertaining.

According to market research, the holiday season often sees a spike in baking and cooking activities, with consumers looking for unique ingredients to enhance their culinary endeavours.

The six flavours are designed to be versatile, allowing consumers to sprinkle them on a range of items including cookies, cakes, hot beverages and even savoury dishes.

For instance, Salted Caramel combines sweet and salty notes, making it suitable for desserts and coffee, while Gingerbread Spice offers a warm blend of traditional spices that can enhance everything from lattes to muffins.

In addition to the product launch, McCormick has curated a selection of recipes that incorporate these finishing sugars, including a Candy Cane Martini and Salted Caramel Pumpkin Muffins.
