Mission Foods plans to invest MXN 792m to build new snack production facility

Mission Foods Mexico has announced its plans to invest MXN 792 million (approx. $46.3 million) over the next five years to build a new snack production plant and expand its existing corn and wheat tortilla facility in the state of Puebla, Mexico. The new Mission corn-based snack production centre, along with the expansion of the existing plant for tortillas, tostadas and deep-fried snacks, will boost the company's production capacity to 70,200 tons of products annually. The project will generate 440 direct jobs across the state, with women expected to fill 55% of these positions. Moreover, the construction and expansion phases are expected to create approximately 110 indirect jobs as the company bolsters its supply chains for wheat flour, corn flour, packaging and minor ingredients throughout the state. Mission serves customers in Mexico's prime markets, which include the central, bajío and southern regions, where demand for its products has been steadily increasing. Nader Badii González, managing director of Mission Foods Mexico, said: “In 2016, Mission began its successful incursion into Puebla and has since created more than 500 jobs, of which 60% have been for women. These new construction and expansion projects reaffirm and strengthen Mission México’s productive commitment to the State of Puebla."
