Nomad Foods has entered into exclusive negotiations with Fortenova Group to acquire its frozen food business portfolio, which includes Ledo and Frikom, among other brands.
Headquartered in the UK, Nomad Foods already features a number of iconic brands within its portfolio, including Birds Eye, Findus, iglo, Aunt Bessie's and Goodfella's.
Fortenova's frozen food portfolio contains well-known local brands with a strong consumer presence in Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, as well as other countries in southeastern Europe. It's frozen food categories include fish, fruits, vegetables, ready meal, pastry and ice cream.
The acquisition would help to extend Nomad's business in developing European markets, while also creating a "beachhead for potential future consolidation within Central and Eastern Europe," a statement from Nomad explained.
Preliminary discussions have now begun, with no assurance from either company that the transaction will be completed.
