PepsiCo has completed a new green energy initiative by installing photovoltaic panels at three sites in Romania: Dragomirești, Popești-Leordeni and Covasna. The project, which represents a $2.1 million investment, aligns with its PepsiCo Positive (pep+) decarbonisation strategy and aims for net-zero emissions by 2040. It involves the installation of over 3,000 photovoltaic panels across three facilities, with a total capacity of 1,700 kWp, expected to generate more than 1,300 MWh of clean energy annually. This renewable energy initiative is projected to cut greenhouse gas emissions by about 500 tons each year. PepsiCo is considering extending the use of photovoltaic panels to all its facilities in Romania. Daniel Drăgușin, supply chain director of East Balkans at PepsiCo, said: “The installation of photovoltaic panels at our sites in Romania represents a significant step in reducing GHG as part of our pep+ goals, and our commitment to integrate sustainability into every aspect of our operations". "In addition to driving net-zero productivity, investing in photovoltaic panels also brings economic advantages. Our own electricity production allows us to reduce costs compared to purchasing from the grid.”
