PepsiCo’s crisp brand Walkers has expanded its core line-up with the addition of its new BBQ Sauce flavour.

Walkers developed the new variety to tap into increasing consumer demand for barbecue flavours after it saw the largest YoY growth between 2023-2024.

Stephanie Herbert, Walkers' senior marketing manager, said: “We know that shoppers are constantly on the lookout for bold, great-tasting flavour variations of their favourite snacks. Through this, we have seen BBQ become the most requested flavour on social media, so there was no better time to combine these two trends to launch our new Walkers Smokin’ BBQ Sauce SKU.”

Herbert continued: “The launch aims to help retailers boost their savoury snacking sales by providing them with an exciting, in-demand flavour that will give their shoppers the delicious taste of BBQ no matter the weather”.

This is the latest in a number of innovations from the Walkers brand. Earlier this month, PepsiCo partnered with Heinz on a trio of sandwich-inspired crisps and the month prior, introduced a new line of HFSS-compliant crisp varieties in Wotsits and Monster Munch formats.

In March, the brand launched a new platform, Extra Flamin’ Hot, a three-strong range that adds an intense twist to its classic crisps, Doritos, Walkers Max and Wotsits Crunchy, and in January, it tapped into the plant-based market with the release of three new plant-based meat and cheese-flavoured crisps for Veganuary.

The new BBQ-flavoured Walkers crisps are available to purchase now in UK retailers.
