Wal-Mart Stores (better known as Walmart) is an American multinational retail corporation that runs chains of large discount department stores and warehouse stores. It is both the US and the world’s largest retailer, with subsidiaries including Asda, Sam’s Club, Seiyu Group and Walmex.


From humble beginnings as a small discount retailer in Rogers, Arkansas, Walmart has opened thousands of stores in the US and expanded internationally. Today, it continues to focus on creating a seamless retail experience across both physical and digital channels – exemplified by the acquisition of Jet.com. Walmart operates over 11,300 stores under 58 banners in 27 countries and e-commerce websites in 10 countries. It employs approximately 2.2 million people around the world including 1.5 million in the US alone.
