Accolade Wines CEO Robert Foye steps down

Accolade Wines has announced that Robert Foye has decided to step down from his position as CEO, effective immediately.

Foye's departure comes at a pivotal moment for the company, which is navigating significant changes following the recent announcement of a merger with Pernod Ricard Wines.

During his four-year tenure, Foye implemented transformative strategies that strengthened Accolade’s position in key markets despite facing various external challenges. Notably, he successfully guided the company through a recapitalisation process.

“Robert has led significant transformations across the company, positioning us to deliver in all our key markets,” said a spokesperson for Accolade Wines. “His leadership has been instrumental in navigating the complexities of the wine industry, and we wish him well as he focuses on the next stage of his career and relocates back to Texas to be with his family.”

Foye joined Accolade in March 2020 as chief operating officer and was promoted to CEO just two months later. His previous experience includes nearly five years at Treasury Wine Estates and 23 years with The Coca-Cola Company, where he held various leadership roles.

Following Foye's departure, Ben Clarke, who joined Accolade as Chairman in April 2024, will take on the role of Executive Chairman.

Clarke brings extensive experience from various food and beverage companies across Europe, the US and Australia, including a tenure leading Kraft Foods in Australia and New Zealand.

Clarke's appointment comes as Accolade prepares to enter a new phase of growth and integration with Pernod Ricard’s wine brands, including Brancott Estate, Campo Viejo and Jacob’s Creek. The merger, which was finalised last month, is expected to enhance Accolade's portfolio and market presence.

As the company seeks a new CEO, it will be crucial for Accolade to maintain momentum during this transitional period.

The leadership change also reflects broader trends in the wine industry, where consolidation and strategic partnerships are becoming increasingly common as companies adapt to evolving consumer preferences and market dynamics.

Accolade Wines, known for its popular brands such as Hardys and Banrock Station, is now under the control of a consortium of five institutional investment firms, which has influenced its strategic direction.

The search for Foye's successor will likely focus on candidates with strong backgrounds in the beverage sector, particularly those experienced in navigating mergers and acquisitions, as Accolade looks to capitalise on its recent growth opportunities.
