Barentz appoints Lars Schneider as new CEO for EMEA region

Barentz International, a provider of speciality ingredients, has announced the appointment of Lars Schneider as the new chief executive officer for the EMEA region, effective 1 October 2024.


Schneider will also join the Barentz Board, bringing over 20 years of industry experience to the role.


His career includes leadership positions at Brenntag, where he has worked since 2003. His tenure there saw him assume various roles across Germany, Italy, Canada and the Americas, culminating in his most recent positions as president of specialities Americas and global president of material science and specialities North America. He holds a BSc in Economics and an MBA in Business Administration.


Currently residing in Ontario, Canada, Schneider will relocate to the Netherlands to take on his new responsibilities.


Terry Hill, interim CEO of Barentz, said: “With Lars on board, we will strengthen our position and further support our business growth in the EMEA region. In his first public statement as incoming CEO, Schneider added: “I am honoured to join Barentz and to lead the EMEA region toward continued success. This is a dynamic time for the industry, and I look forward to leveraging the strengths of Barentz's talented teams to drive innovation and growth."


He continued: "My focus will be on fostering collaboration, enhancing our principal and customer relationships, and building on the strong foundation that Barentz has established in the region over its more than 70-year history”.


Barentz, founded in 1953, has expanded its global footprint significantly, currently operating in more than 70 countries. The company reported a turnover of approximately €2.4 billion and employs around 2,700 staff worldwide, serving over 27,000 customers across various sectors.


Its expertise includes sourcing branded speciality ingredients and providing technical support such as ingredient formulation and testing from advanced formulation centres and application laboratories.
