In a move to enhance its Protein+ product line, Barilla has added a new rigatoni pasta shape to its line-up. This introduction comes as consumer interest in healthier food options continues to rise, particularly among those seeking convenient and nutritious meal solutions.
The Protein+ Rigatoni contains 17g of protein and 10g of fibre per 3.5-ounce serving, making it a potential choice for health-conscious consumers looking to enhance their diets.
The new shape is designed to complement various sauces and dishes, including hearty meat and vegetable preparations, as well as baked casseroles.

With this addition, Barilla's Protein+ range now features nine different pasta shapes, including classics like spaghetti and penne. The new rigatoni is expected to retail at approximately $3.49, a price point that aligns with other premium pasta products in the market.
The Protein+ line is positioned to appeal to a demographic that includes athletes and active individuals, reflecting a broader trend in toward functional foods that support health and wellness.
Barilla's decision to expand its offerings in this category may indicate a response to the increasing consumer preference for products that provide both convenience and nutritional benefits.
Currently, Protein+ Rigatoni is available through select retailers, including Amazon and regional grocery chains, with plans for further distribution in the near future.
