Ben & Jerry’s has launched Sweet Mango Memories, a new fruity ice cream flavour co-created with entrepreneurs with refugee backgrounds and their allies from the Entrepreneurial Refugee Network.
The new product, rolling out this month (March 2025) in the UK, features sweet cream-flavoured ice cream, with fruity mango swirls and white chocolate ampersand chunks. It is launching at Co-op stores nationwide.
The launch marks the second product collaboration between the Vermont, US-based ice cream company, TERN and the Up Collective. 13 entrepreneurs with refugee backgrounds and allies from TERN came together with the Ben and Jerry’s team to create the new ice cream, which was influenced by 'happy memories and joyful moments'.
Elif Ulun Asci, social mission manager at Ben & Jerry’s, said: “We’re incredibly proud to partner with TERN and UP Collective for our second flavour co-created with refugee entrepreneurs. Not only does this sweet new flavour delight both new and existing ice cream fans, collaborating with entrepreneurs with diverse backgrounds to create a flavour like Sweet Mango Memories shows the power of co-creation. The collaborative process means refugee entrepreneurs gain valuable opportunities that they can put into practice in their own ventures."
Proceeds from every tub go back to supporting people with refugee backgrounds to explore entrepreneurship. Research suggests that when people from refugee backgrounds have access to meaningful employment that builds on their skillset, it helps them rebuild their lives, become more self sufficient and play a fuller role in society.
