Italian speciality foods, Colavita USA, has announced the acquisition of Vitelli Foods, owner of the Luigi Vitelli brand.
Vitelli Foods was established in 1885 as the first Italian food brand registered in America. Since then, it has become known for its pasta and tomatoes, strengthening Colavita’s product offerings and position as the third largest importer of Italian pasta into the US.
Giovanni Colavita, CEO of Colavita USA, said: “Luigi Vitelli is an iconic brand that we want to preserve and introduce to the next generations, continuing the great work done by Claudia Vitelli and Roy Taormina".
Under the Vitelli Foods banner, Colavita aims increase the reach and recognition of Luigi Vitelli products, emphasising its history and Italian authenticity.
