Evigence debuts FreshSense technology to track freshness in the food industry

Evigence, a provider of freshness management solutions, has announced the general availability of its Freshness Management Platform with FreshSense, a new sensor technology that is set to change how the food industry measures and ensures product freshness.

The FreshSense sensors, featuring patented chemistry-embedded QR codes, provide real-time, item-level insights into the freshness and quality of perishable goods throughout the supply chain.

Coupled with Evigence's advanced analytics platform, the solution delivers unprecedented visibility and traceability, empowering food manufacturers and cold chain operators to optimise their operations and minimise waste.

Yoav Levy, co-founder and CEO of Evigence, commented: "Our technology will eventually be the death of the date code as we aim to optimize freshness throughout supply chains, inventory, retail and even in consumers' homes".

He continued: "Date codes are terribly inaccurate indicators of food freshness and product quality, leading to tremendous inefficiencies throughout the food industry supply chain".

Evigence's Freshness Management Dashboards, powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning, provide food industry leaders with actionable insights to boost end-to-end supply chain efficiency, ensure food quality, reduce loss, manage compliance and make decisions with confidence.

The platform also features automated early supply chain scanning, multi-scan technology and advanced analytics capabilities to help companies gain a deeper understanding of their product's freshness status.

"It is time to take the guesswork out of food freshness to accurately guarantee food safety," Levy added. "The journey from production to consumption is filled with variables that heavily impact quality and freshness. Adding advanced temperature tracking down to the item level, rather than assuming consistency across an entire pallet or shipment, will change how the food industry assesses freshness."
