The Bonduelle Group has confirmed that assets relating to its packaged salad business in Germany have been sold to Taylor Farms and Foodiverse.
The acquisition includes two production plants specialising in the manufacturing of ready-to-eat salads, with Foodiverse managing all activities for the unified businesses. Foodiverse, headquartered in Spain, and Taylor Farms, based in the US, are both specialists in salads and fresh prepared healthy foods.
The move allows Foodiverse and Taylor Farms to strengthen their positions in the German market through their new partnership, while enabling Bonduelle to maintain a strong presence in the German market through its canned and frozen food business. Bounduelle is also continuing to expand in the fresh delicatessen category in Europe, and recently launched its Bonduelle brand in the American market.
Foodiverse's production plant, Thurländer Salate, specialises in private label and production of ready-to-eat salads. From 1 April, three sites – Thurland, and the new sites in Straelen and Reutlingen – will operate under the corporate brand name Greenfresh. With this latest acquisition, the Foodiverse group will have a global workforce of 2,650 employees, nine production plants and 2,700 hectares of managed farmland.
“The integration of these two plants into our group reinforces our commitment to growth in the healthy food sector,” Joaquin Ballester, president of Foodiverse, said.
Bruce Taylor, chairman and CEO of Taylor Farms, said: “By making this strategic acquisition, our goal is to enhance the fresh packaged salad sector and ensure our customers receive innovative and healthy products. We look forward to serving customers in Germany and across Europe.”
Following the acquisition, workforce stability will be ensured with a gradual integration process, Foodiverse stated, adding that its international team would be on hand to support a smooth transition.
