Packaging and labelling technology provider Heidelberg has unveiled the Cartonmaster CX 145, a very large format (VLF) press targeting growth segments in folded carton printing.
VLF format class six (105cm by 145cm) sheetfed offset presses play a key role in the growth of long-run folding carton printing for food, beverage and consumer packaging, Heidelberg said in a statement announcing the launch of the new solution.
With this in mind, and coinciding with the company’s 175th anniversary, Heidelberg has added the Cartonmaster CX 145 in format class six to its portfolio for packaging customers.
The technology is based on the Roland Evolution 900 from Manroland Sheetfed, which Heidelberg is incorporating into its digital ecosystem. The press can be integrated into both the Prinect workflow and the workflow solutions of third-party suppliers.
By launching the new Cartonmaster CX 145, Heidelberg aims to plug the gap between its Speedmaster portfolio and the Boardmaster. Besides the actual press in the Heidelberg design, customers can also access sales, installation, training and support, including service and consumables, as part of the package.
The new press is available to order with immediate effect, with the first customer installation planned for 2026 followed by a global roll-out. The company said it expects to see significant demand from businesses in North America, Europe and China.
Jürgen Otto, CEO of Heidelberg, said: “Adding the Cartonmaster CX 145 to our portfolio is further proof of our credentials as a system integrator for the end-to-end production of folding cartons”.
