Heinz expands sauce portfolio with six limited-time additions

Heinz has announced the launch of six limited-edition ‘Sauce Drops’ – the company will introduce one sauce per month at select US restaurants. The ‘Sauce Drops’ are designed to deliver on consumers’ hunger for uniqueness, as the company says “each provides an elevated flavour dipping experience unlike anything Heinz has ever created”. They were developed in response to FMCG Gurus’ market research that found that more than 70% of consumers consider themselves adventurous eaters and seek a greater variety of flavours from their favourite restaurants and brands. The limited-time sauce flavours include yuzu wasabi – a creamy sauce with citrus notes, black garlic ranch – a combination of mellow and deep black garlic with smooth ranch, creamy chimichurri – a mixture of parsley, oregano and coriander with a slight tang, brewery mustard – a pub-style grainy mustard sauce with ale aroma, hatch chili ranch – a spicy smoky sauce made with Southwest chillis, and harissa aioli – a roasted red pepper blend with a “North African flair”. Diane Mays Doty, associate brand manager at Heinz Away from Home, said: “As a consumer-obsessed brand at the forefront of food culture, we want to hijack fans’ behaviour as they seek out new and unique flavours at their favourite restaurants. Taking a page from the popular ‘drop culture,’ these Sauce Drops allow us to push portfolio boundaries with explorative flavours, while also allowing us to receive real-time fan feedback to inform what we bring to shelves nationwide.” Each limited-time sauce is crafted for various dipping occasions, Heinz says they pair “especially well” with the crispy, savoury taste of fried chicken. The sauces will be available for limited time periods at restaurants across the US, such as Parson’s Chicken and Fish, Sticky’s Finger and Abner’s Famous Chicken.
