JBS announces $200m investment in US beef production facilities

JBS announces $200m investment in US beef production facilities

JBS USA has announced a $200 million investment in its beef production facilities in Cactus, Texas, and Greeley, Colorado.

The investment includes the construction of a state-of-the-art fabrication floor and an expanded ground beef room in Cactus, along with a new distribution centre in Greeley.

These projects aim to enhance efficiencies at the facilities and offer the potential for increased production capacity in the future, benefiting cattle producers, consumers, JBS team members, and the broader rural communities surrounding the plants.

The Cactus facility, located in the Texas panhandle, employs over 3,700 team members and works with multiple cattle producers, paying $2.9 billion annually for livestock. In Northern Colorado, the Greeley facility employs more than 3,800 team members and collaborates with over 175 producers, spending $3.1 billion each year on livestock.

Wesley Batista Filho, JBS USA CEO, said: “We believe now is the time to invest in the United States, and we are excited about what the future holds. Today’s announcement demonstrates our commitment to the US beef industry and the American farmer and rancher."

"At JBS, we prioritise ongoing investments in our facilities to ensure our company and the rural areas where we live and work are positioned for success now and in the future.”

US representative Ronny Jackson added: “This expansion will improve production capacity for our ranchers and cattle feeders in the Texas panhandle and bring much needed efficiencies to the facility that will help strengthen our beef supply chain and keep American agriculture competitive and resilient.”

Construction of the new projects is set to begin in 2025.
