Nestlé to establish SAR 270m food plant in Saudi Arabia

Nestlé has signed an agreement with Saudi Arabia’s MODON (the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones) to establish its first food manufacturing plant in the country.

The facility, to be built in Jeddah’s Third Industrial City, will represent an investment of SAR 270 million (approx. $72 million).

The agreement outlines plans for a factory covering 117,000 square metres. The plant will focus initially on the production of children’s food and incorporate advanced technologies for packaging and filling materials. Nestlé expects the facility to have an annual production capacity of 15,000 tons in its first phase and "create hundreds of direct and indirect jobs," said the food giant.

In addition, the factory consists of a central warehouse, a building for industrial services and facilities, an advanced laboratory and an administrative building.

The project aims to enhance food security in Saudi Arabia and meet local demand, with plans to export to other Middle Eastern and North African markets.

Nestlé stated that MODON is supporting the National Industrial Strategy by developing food industry clusters in Jeddah's Second and Third Industrial Cities. These clusters aim to strengthen supply chains, boost exports and enhance the region’s food manufacturing industry.
