A new caffeine-free alternative coffee brand, Kamana, has launched in the US, providing consumers with a new, mesquite-based beverage.
Mesquite is an ancient desert superfood that looks, tastes and produces a beverage akin to actual coffee. Packed with natural energy sources and gut-friendly fibre, this mesquite-based beverage provides the flavour and ritual of coffee without any of its commonly reported side effects, such as anxiety, gut issues and poor sleep.
To make Kamana, the nutrient-dense pods of the mesquite tree are slow-roasted and ground, then brewed like any cup of coffee – it can be made in an espresso machine, moka pot or French press, for example.
Kamana provides consumers with a subtly sweet, smooth coffee flavour, with notes of cacao, cinnamon and nutmeg, and can be enjoyed black or paired with milk. Founded by CEO Summer Stewart after a trip to South Africa where she mistook a cup of mesquite for a cup of decaf coffee, Kamana is the first brand to share the benefits of the drink with US consumers, aiming to create an entirely new category of coffee alternative. Kamana is available to purchase now on the company’s website, with plans to launch into coffee shops in Los Angeles in the coming months.
