One Rock completes purchase of Europe Snacks, strengthens private label snack market position

One Rock completes purchase of Europe Snacks, strengthens private label snack market position

One Rock Capital Partners has completed the acquisition of Europe Snacks, a manufacturer of private label savoury snacks in Europe.

The deal marks a move in the competitive landscape of the food and beverage manufacturing sector, particularly in the growing segment of private label products.

The acquisition was first reported back in September, when One Rock Capital Partners announced its intent to purchase the company.

Headquartered in Paris, France, Europe Snacks specialises in the production of a variety of savoury snacks, including crisps, stacked chips and crackers.

The company not only caters to private label demands but also serves as a co-manufacturing partner for established branded food companies looking to penetrate the European snack market.

This dual approach positions Europe Snacks as a versatile player in an industry increasingly driven by consumer preferences for both branded and private label options.

The acquisition is expected to enhance One Rock's portfolio, which focuses on companies with growth potential and operational improvement opportunities.

"We are excited to welcome Europe Snacks to the One Rock portfolio," said Kurt Beyer, partner at One Rock. He highlighted the firm's commitment to collaborating with Europe Snacks' CEO, Étienne Lecomte, and the management team to build on the company's reputation.

The private label snack market has seen significant growth in recent years, driven by changing consumer behaviors and preferences for cost-effective alternatives to branded products.

According to a report by IRI, private label snacks accounted for nearly 20% of the total snack market in Europe as of 2023, reflecting a shift in shopper loyalty and price sensitivity, particularly in the wake of inflationary pressures.

Europe Snacks operates seven production facilities across the UK, France and Spain, enabling it to meet the diverse needs of major retailers and discounters.

The company has also made strides in sustainability, focusing on responsible sourcing and high-quality production methods, aligning with the broader industry trend toward environmentally conscious manufacturing practices.

As One Rock Capital integrates Europe Snacks into its portfolio, the emphasis will be on leveraging the company's existing capabilities while exploring new growth avenues. The collaboration aims to enhance Europe Snacks' market position and expand its product offerings across various channels.
