Pilgrims Choice introduces new 'Inclusions' cheese range

Pilgrims Choice is expanding its range with the launch a new line of blended cheeses called 'Inclusions'.


This expansion aims to cater to evolving consumer preferences for innovative flavours and convenient meal solutions, leveraging insights from a recent consumer research initiative.


The 'Inclusions' range will feature four distinct flavor blends, each designed to enhance culinary versatility while maintaining the core attributes of Pilgrims Choice's mature cheddar.


The new offerings include:


The Italian One - Garlic & Herb: A blend of garlic, chives and black pepper, designed to complement Italian dishes such as pasta and pizzas.


The Mexican One - Smoked Paprika: Combining smoked paprika and caramelised onion, this option targets the growing demand for bold flavours in Mexican cuisine.


The American One - Hot Honey: Featuring a mix of paprika, jalapeño, honey and white wine vinegar, this flavour caters to the hot honey trend and is positioned as an ideal topping for burgers and barbecue dishes.


The British One - Caramelised Onion: A classic combination enhanced with porcini and roast garlic, aimed at elevating traditional British comfort foods like cheese toasties.


The new products will be available in various formats, including blocks, grated, and sliced, making them suitable for different cooking styles and occasions.


This launch follows a comprehensive Category and Consumer Insights project conducted by Ornua Foods UK, the brand's parent company. The research revealed that 50% of consumers are eager to explore new flavor experiences while seeking convenience in meal preparation.


The 'Inclusions' range aims to meet this demand by providing flavourful, ready-to-use cheese options that inspire consumers to experiment with their cooking.


Commenting on the new range, Nicola Blackmore-Squires, marketing director at Ornua Foods UK, said: “At Pilgrims Choice, we want to accelerate our growth journey. We have undertaken a massive Category and Consumer Insights project to ensure we understand the role we play for both our retailer partners and our consumers. This is informing the direction of a pipeline of innovative offerings and brand developments, the first of which is our new Pilgrims Choice inclusion range."


She added: “As a brand, we want to ensure that exciting developments we are making to the Pilgrims Choice range are ultimately what consumers really want by tapping into cutting edge food trends, we are focused on addressing unmet usage occasions and driving mealtime inspiration to enable them to live a life full of flavour”.


Initial distribution will begin in Tesco stores across the UK in March, with plans for broader retail partnerships later in the year.
