Protein Works, a player in the UK health and wellness sector, has inaugurated its new headquarters, the PW Campus, in Speke, Liverpool.
This state-of-the-art facility is the result of a £10 million self-funded investment and consolidates the company’s operations from multiple sites in Runcorn into a single, modern space designed to support its ambitious growth trajectory.
The opening of the 100,000 square foot PW Campus marks a significant milestone for Protein Works, coinciding with the sale of its 400 millionth shake.
This landmark achievement underscores the brand's rapid ascent in the competitive health and wellness market, where it has established a reputation for innovation and quality.
The PW Campus will house the company’s production, fulfillment, marketing and technology teams under one roof, enhancing operational efficiency and fostering collaboration.
With advanced manufacturing capabilities and dedicated areas for future growth, Protein Works aims to scale its revenue beyond £100 million without limitations on speed. This move comes on the heels of a record-breaking 2024, which saw a 40% increase in turnover and record profits.
Laura Keir, CEO of Protein Works, commented on the new facility: “This is more than just a new building; it’s a symbol of how far we’ve come and where we’re going next. At a time when many others in our industry have been facing challenges, we’re proud to be able to create best-in-class jobs and contribute to the economic growth of the North West.”
The new campus is expected to facilitate a 20% increase in headcount in key areas such as marketing, technology and data, further bolstering Protein Works’ capabilities. The company aims to enhance its operational efficiency through investments in AI and technology, aiming to improve decision-making and customer service.
Joseph Hook, recently promoted to COO, has played a crucial role in the transition to the new facility. Hook brings extensive experience from previous roles at THG, Valeo Confectionery, and Saica Packaging, and is poised to drive operational excellence as Protein Works continues to expand.
Nicola McQuaid, partner at YFM Equity Partners, which supports Protein Works, noted the brand’s impressive performance: “Reaching this milestone reflects just how far Protein Works has come as a brand that’s rapidly gaining ground in its industry," she said. "Over the past five years, the team has consistently delivered, with revenues surpassing £50 million and EBITDA doubling year-on-year.”
