Scan Sverige, part of Lantmännen, has signed an agreeement to acquire Lindvalls Chark for an undisclosed sum.
Founded in 1925, Lindvalls Chark offers sausages and charcuterie sourced from Swedish farms. The company employs over 100 people and produces around 8,000 tonnes of sausages annually.
The acquisition will allow Scan Sverige to expand its portfolio and strengthen its position as Sweden’s leading meat and charcuterie company, boosting Swedish food production.
Magnus Kagevik, group president and CEO of Lantmännen, said: “The acquisition of Lindvalls complements Scan Sverige’s existing business and brands in an excellent way. For Lantmännen and our members, Swedish farmers, the acquisition is yet another investment in Swedish food production and in strengthening long-term conditions for Swedish agriculture."
Lars Appelqvist, MD of Scan Sverige, added: “Our acquisition of Lindvalls will further strengthen our position, not least in the convenience area and with their expertise and well reputed brand, we further our access to a flexible and customer orientated organisation. The acquisition also enables us to continue leading the way forward in terms of increased sustainable meat production along with members, colleagues and suppliers.”
The agreement means Scan Sverige will acquire the entire Lindvalls Chark operation, which will continue to operate as a separate business unit, with production remaining at the Strömsnäsbruk site.
