Two Spoons Creamery has launched a new line of high-protein ice cream that claims to be the first of its kind with zero added sugar and ingredients compatible with GLP-1 medications. This product aims to cater to health-conscious consumers seeking indulgent yet nutritious frozen desserts.
The ice cream is available in four flavours: Rocky Road, Strawberries & Cream, Caramel Swirl and Fudgy Brownie, each boasting 30g of protein per serving. The product is sweetened with allulose, a natural low-calorie sweetener that has been associated with the release of GLP-1, a hormone that plays a role in appetite regulation and blood sugar control.
Co-founders Rich Ferreira and Gabe Zichermann developed the product in response to their own dietary challenges. Ferreira expressed frustration with existing "healthy" ice creams that often lacked flavour and texture, while Zichermann sought to incorporate more protein-rich, low-glycemic options into his diet, particularly as he follows a health program involving GLP-1 medications like Ozempic and Wegovy.
“We spent a full year perfecting our Rocky Road flavour, ensuring it meets both taste and nutritional standards,” said Ferreira. “Our goal was to create a product that doesn’t compromise on flavour while providing significant health benefits.”

The ice cream features a variety of mix-ins, including salted caramel, natural strawberry jam and fudgy brownies, designed to enhance the overall eating experience. According to the company, the use of olive oil instead of cheaper seed oils further elevates the product’s health profile.
This launch comes amid growing consumer interest in functional foods that offer health benefits without sacrificing taste. As the market for high-protein and low-sugar products expands, Two Spoons aims to position itself as a leader in the premium frozen dessert segment.
“GLP-1s are becoming increasingly relevant in the conversation around weight management,” noted Zichermann. “We believe our ice cream offers a satisfying alternative for those looking to enjoy a classic treat while adhering to their dietary goals”.
Two Spoons Creamery has already secured multiple retail partnerships and funding ahead of its official launch, indicating strong market interest. The product is available for nationwide shipping through the company's website and can also be ordered via delivery services like DoorDash and Uber Eats in select California cities.
