Bimbo Canada has announced the closure of its Québec City bakery by the end of the year, with operations gradually winding down as production shifts to other locations.
The company aims to streamline its manufacturing network to improve efficiency and support long-term profitability.
Approximately 141 employees will be affected. Bimbo Canada will offer a working notice period, along with severance packages, personal counselling and outplacement services.
Marie-Ève Royer, president of Bimbo Canada, said: "By consolidating and continuing to make significant investments in our operations, we will ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of our business. It was a difficult decision, and I will personally ensure that we do everything possible to ease the impact on our people."
