Danone has announced a multi-year collaboration with Microsoft to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into its operations.
The collaboration will establish the Danone Microsoft AI Academy, which will focus on upskilling all Danone employees to ensure they are equipped with the AI and digital tools necessary to excel in the evolving AI-driven economy.
The initiative builds on Danone’s ‘DanSkills’ programme, which aims to train around 100,000 employees for future roles and attract new talent. Currently, 50,000 Danone staff already use AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot in their daily work.
The Academy will offer diverse learning opportunities to improve AI literacy and expertise for all employees. It will include targeted initiatives for different employee groups to ensure broad training coverage.
Through the partnership with Microsoft and other institutions, Danone aims to build a responsive and inclusive training environment, fostering collaboration and innovation while preparing the company for future challenges.
The collaboration with Microsoft aims to provide Danone with advanced AI solutions and develop use cases across all company functions.
Initially, the partnership will focus on creating an AI-enabled supply chain to improve operational efficiency by implementing predictive forecasting and real-time adjustments in logistics and manufacturing. Additionally, the collaboration will work on developing digital twins of core skills to support data-driven decision-making among Danone’s procurement, production and distribution teams.
Juergen Esser, Danone’s deputy CEO of finance, technology and data, said: "Our collaboration with Microsoft will accelerate our AI transformation, providing us with the tools, technology and expertise to explore new frontiers in data analysis, operational efficiency, and consumer engagement. Working together is not just about technology; it’s about fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation and performance across our organisation."
Hayete Gallot, corporate VP of commercial solutions areas, added: "Danone is looking to the future and understanding the role that AI will play in not only transforming their organisation but the world. We are thrilled to support them in fostering innovation, enhancing operational efficiency, and increasing data-driven decision-making across all functions. With our future Danone Microsoft AI Academy, we aim to empower Danone's workforce with the tools and expertise needed to excel in an AI-driven economy."
