Dr. Oetker to acquire frozen pizza snacks company Galileo Lebensmittel

Dr. Oetker to acquire frozen pizza snacks company Galileo Lebensmittel

Dr. Oetker intends to expand its presence in the frozen pizza snacks market with the acquisition of Galileo Lebensmittel. Founded in Trierweiler, Germany, in 1993, Galileo is a family-run business that manufactures frozen pizza products for several European countries. The company produces Italian, Tex-Mex, American and European foods including bruschetta, piadina, piccobelli, pizza al tiaglio, nacho bites, mini cheeseburgers, wraps and mini tarte flambée. The deal will include Galileo's production facility in Trierweiler, and the company's 200 employees. According to Dr. Oetker, Galileo will continue to be run as an independent company by the existing management team. Albert Christmann, a spokesman for Dr. Oetker's management board, commented: "For Dr. Oetker, the planned acquisition of Galileo represents a significant expansion of our presence in the pizza snacks sector. We are pleased to be able to add Galileo Lebensmittel to our group, a company that, as a family-owned business, fits Dr. Oetker's values, goals and strategy very well." Stefano La Vecchia, founder and CEO of Galileo, added: "We are looking forward to future cooperation under the Dr. Oetker umbrella. Galileos's business will not change. We will continue to be a reliable, high-performance and innovative partner for our customers. Galileo will remain as it is." The terms of the transaction, which is subject to regulatory approval, were not disclosed.
