Ortec acquires Englobe Corp’s waste treatment activities in North America, UK and France

Ortec acquires Englobe Corp’s waste treatment activities in North America, UK and France

The Ortec Group has strengthened its position in soil remediation by acquiring the soil and organic waste treatment activities of Englobe in Canada, the US, UK and France.

The business line, which has a revenue of CAD 180 million (approx. $131.25 million), operates soil treatment facilities, composting centres and beneficial reuse sites.

Ortec’s soil remediation activities operate in Europe, North America and Africa, boasting 33 soil treatment platforms, four composting centres and 12 rehabilitation and renaturation sites. The company also offers design and engineering, remediation work, site rehabilitation and quarry redevelopment, recovery of polluted soil, organic matter management and fertiliser production.

Englobe’s 320 employees and assets have joined the global services division of the Ortec Group as a result of the transaction, with the new entity will known as Biogénie.

The integration will open the North American and UK soil and organic waste treatment markets to Ortec, while strengthening these activities in France, where Ortec has operated for over 25 years.

André Einaudi, chairman and CEO of the Ortec Group, said: “The expertise and assets of Biogénie, combined with the know-how of Ortec-Soléo, will position the Ortec Group among the world leaders in soil remediation. This key activity is at the heart of the environmental transition and decarbonisation, through the fight against land artificialisation. We are delighted with this new step and welcome all Biogénie employees."

Alain Robichaud, responsible for Biogénie’s activities in North America and the UK, commented: “By joining Ortec, Biogénie is integrating a major player in environmental services, which will promote sustainable growth. Having worked together in the past, we know Ortec's in-depth expertise, its services complementing our own, and the reputation for trust and innovation of this independent, family-owned group.”

TD Securities acted as financial advisor to Englobe Corp. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
