Yakult has announced plans to restructure its operations in China as part of efforts to improve competitiveness and ensure long-term growth.


The company will dissolve Shanghai Yakult, a subsidiary of Yakult China, and transfer its sales operations to a newly established branch in Shanghai.

The new Shanghai branch will handle sales through supermarkets, retail stores and home delivery by Yakult Ladies, while production will be moved to Yakult’s Wuxi and Tianjin plants.


Yakult said it aims to "improve management efficiency" by closing the Shanghai plant and consolidating operations at the Wuxi and Tianjin sites.


The company has reaffirmed its commitment to continuing and developing its business in China. It aims to contribute to the health of its customers by improving operational efficiency, expanding business and consolidating resources to maximise the potential of the Chinese market.

Yakult to close Shanghai, China, plant

Yakult has announced plans to restructure its operations in China as part of efforts to improve competitiveness and ensure long-term growth.


The company will dissolve Shanghai Yakult, a subsidiary of Yakult China, and transfer its sales operations to a newly established branch in Shanghai.
