Yanmar Holdings has announced its acquisition of CLAAS India, a manufacturer of agricultural machinery, through its subsidiary Yanmar Coromandel Agrisolutions.
The deal, set to be finalised by 30 September 2024, is positioned to bolster Yanmar’s presence in the Indian agribusiness sector, leveraging CLAAS India's established reputation in producing high-quality combine harvesters.
Kemal Shoshi, president of Yanmar Agribusiness, said: "India is one of the world’s top grain producers and represents a crucial market for our agribusiness. “This acquisition will enable us to offer a wider range of products, significantly enhancing Yanmar's presence in India. We look forward to leveraging both companies' strengths to deliver Yanmar's products to more customers.”
The acquisition aligns with Yanmar's broader strategy to strengthen its footprint in key agricultural markets, particularly in countries with significant agricultural output.
India, with its diverse cropping patterns and increasing demand for efficient farming equipment, presents a unique opportunity for growth.
CLAAS Group CEO Jan-Hendrik Mohr added: “CLAAS and Yanmar share numerous common values such as a strong commitment to technical quality, reliable machinery, and building strong relationships with stakeholders, in particular agricultural customers."
