Coca-Cola to acquire Carlsberg brands in Denmark

No financial terms were disclosed, but the deals will provide will relief to Carlsberg which swung to a 129m kroner ($27m) loss in the first quarter of 2008 mainly due to costs related to its acquisition of a stake in the brewer Scottish & Newcastle, which it bought together with Dutch rival Heineken NV.

On the beverage deal, Coca-Cola said the companies had signed a letter of intent regarding the trademark and brand-owner rights for the Danish water brands as well as the soft drink Hyvaa Paivaa and energy drink Battery in Finland.
