European food producer Danish Crown has announced the appointment of Niels Duedahl as its new group CEO, effective September 2 2024.
Duedahl, who has held leadership positions at Norlys, Lego and TDC, will spearhead a transformation campaign aimed at enhancing the company's competitiveness in the food and beverage sector.
The board's decision comes as Danish Crown embarks on a new strategic period marked by significant operational changes.
As the company prepares to navigate a challenging market landscape, Duedahl's extensive experience in transformation and change management was a key factor in his selection.
Asger Krogsgaard, chairman of Danish Crown, commented: "As we enter this crucial phase, we need a leader who can make bold decisions and inspire a culture of adaptability and innovation. Niels is a visionary leader who understands the importance of maintaining strong company culture during periods of change."
Educated in economics, Duedahl was recognised as Leader of the Year in 2013 for his value-based leadership approach.
Duedahl said: "Danish Crown is a fantastic company with unrealised potential. I am committed to ensuring competitive returns for our farmer owners and creating a workplace that attracts top talent".
Duedahl will succeed Jais Valeur, who has led Danish Crown through a period of substantial growth and international expansion. Valeur will step down on August 30 2024, after ensuring a smooth transition for his successor.
The appointment of Duedahl comes at a pivotal time for Danish Crown, as it seeks to align its operations with evolving market demands and consumer preferences. The company is expected to focus on sustainability, innovation and efficiency to maintain its position in a competitive industry.
