Doritos has teamed up with Denmark-based flavour company Empirical to release a limited-edition nacho cheese-flavoured spirit. Empirical x Doritos Nacho Cheese-flavoured spirit is crafted using Empirical's production process, which involves extracting the diverse flavour layers from real Doritos chips and retaining their essence through vacuum distillation. This method maintains the essence of the chips at lower temperatures, preserving the complete flavours, unlike traditional distillation methods. Tina Mahal, senior VP of marketing for Frito-Lay North America, said: "Doritos is all about disrupting culture and bringing our fans unexpected, bold experiences. We're always pushing our fans to try new things, so we figure it's time we disrupt the spirits category by offering our iconic nacho cheese flavour in a bottle." Lars Williams, chef/distiller & CEO of Empirical, added: "Empirical is an 'uncategorised' spirits company, so it allows us the freedom to experiment with really interesting flavours and not have to be stuck in a gin box or tequila box or whiskey box. And we can take something that has a unique and amazing flavour, like Doritos, and evolve it into something completely new." Empirical x Doritos Nacho Cheese-flavoured spirit, boasting a 42% ABV, will be available next month online and in select New York and California markets for an SRP of $65 per 750ml.
