Lyons Magnus has announced its acquisition of Hormel Health Labs, Hormel Foods’ health foods business, for an undisclosed sum.
Lyons Magnus, a portfolio company of sustainable food specialist private equity firm Paine Schwarz Partners, has purchased the operations and brands associated with Hormel Health Labs through the deal.
It has now established Lyons Health Labs, aiming to evolve and grow its nutrition and health business. This will bolster the company’s existing healthcare business, which provides a range of nutritional products as a foodservice supplier to healthcare industry professionals.
In a statement announcing the acquisition, Lyons Magnus said that Lyons Health Labs aims to be a leader in nutritional and healthy products for dysphagia, unintended weight loss, digestive health and hydration.
The business will combine Hormel Health Labs with Lyons’ own nutrition and health division, continuing to bring to market best-selling products from each company, all of which will be rebranded under the Lyons Health Labs name. These include ReadyCare, Thick & Easy, Vital Cuisine, Med Pass 2.0, MightyShakes and Magic Cup.
Lyons Health Labs will also work to create innovative new products formulated to meet nutritional needs posed by specific conditions. It will operate as a business unit within Lyons Magnus and will be headquartered in Fresno, California, US.
