British sports nutrition brand MyProtein has expanded its clear whey protein range with the launch of Clear Whey Splash Of, said to be its ‘lightest-tasting’ clear protein to date.
According to the brand, the new protein powder creates a ‘sweet, flavourful and light’ drink when added to water. It offers 20g of protein and under 90 calories per serving and is launching in three fruity flavours: raspberry and lemon, orange and mango, and pineapple.
MyProtein’s latest addition to its clear whey line-up, which offers a juice-style alternative to traditional milky protein shakes, is designed to be more refreshing and easier to consume with a ‘subtler, cleaner’ taste.
Additionally, the drink is low-sugar and sweetened with natural alternatives, rather than artificial ingredients. Research from Mintel shows that 65% of British shoppers are actively trying to avoid artificial sweeteners and flavours.
In what is claimed to be a first for the UK sports nutrition market, the new Clear Whey Splash Of combines plant-based sweeteners monk fruit and stevia to achieve a more natural flavour, as opposed to the stronger notes typically found in clear protein products.
It also utilises a new protein recipe with reduced acidity, eliminating the aftertaste common in other clear protein products and offering a more delicate, neutral flavour profile.
Clear whey isolate is a fast-growing segment of the wider sports nutrition market, projected to grow from $456 million globally in 2024 to over $830 million by 2034. This growth is driven by rising demand for refreshing high-protein drinks and cleaner ingredient profiles.
Neil Mistry, CEO of MyProtein’s parent company THG Nutrition, commented: “By pioneering the use of natural sweeteners like monk fruit and stevia, we are leading the charge in offering clean, highly effective supplements that don't compromise on flavour or quality. This is the future of protein.”
Clear Whey Splash Of will be available to UK and EU consumers from 28 July 2025 online, with retail availability to follow.
