The Compleat Food Group acquires The Real Yorkshire Pudding Co

The Compleat Food Group acquires The Real Yorkshire Pudding Co

In a move to bolster its position in the UK chilled prepared food market, The Compleat Food Group has acquired The Real Yorkshire Pudding Co, a leading supplier of chilled Yorkshire puddings, for an undisclosed amount.

This acquisition marks another significant step in Compleat's ambition to become the foremost player in the chilled food sector.

The Real Yorkshire Pudding Co has established itself as a force in the chilled Yorkshire pudding category, achieving a turnover of £33 million and consistently driving double-digit growth.

The company, founded in 1992, is recognised for its premium-quality products, including its flagship Yorkshire puddings and toad in the hole. It holds a strong presence in all major UK retailers, making it a valuable addition to Compleat's portfolio.

Compleat's acquisition strategy includes the recent purchases of SK Foods and Zorba Foods, leaders in private label chilled party foods and dips, as well as Harvey & Brockless, a distributor of specialty foods.

These acquisitions are part of a broader initiative to enhance manufacturing capabilities and expand market reach across various food categories.

Backed by European private equity firm PAI Partners, The Compleat Food Group was established in 2021 and has quickly scaled its operations, now employing over 5,000 staff across 15 sites.

The group encompasses several well-known brands, including Pork Farms, Wall’s Pastry and Squeaky Bean, and maintains a strong market presence in sectors such as savoury pastry, Mediterranean deli and plant-based foods.

The acquisition of The Real Yorkshire Pudding Co is expected to facilitate further innovation and leadership in the chilled food category. By integrating the expertise and operational strengths of both companies, Compleat aims to enhance its product offerings and meet the evolving demands of consumers.

Nick Field, CEO of Compleat, said: “We are excited to welcome the Real Yorkshire Pudding Co to The Compleat Food Group. This partnership is about more than just great products; it’s about bringing together talented teams and creating something truly special.”

Bill Howson, managing director of The Real Yorkshire Pudding Co, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the potential for growth under Compleat's umbrella. “Joining The Compleat Food Group marks an exciting new chapter for us. Their market reach and shared commitment to exceptional products make them a perfect partner for our ambitions,” he remarked.

As The Compleat Food Group continues to pursue its goal of becoming the UK’s leading chilled prepared food company, the integration of The Real Yorkshire Pudding Co is poised to enhance its competitive edge.
