UK sausage roll brand Wall’s has expanded its hot pie portfolio with the launch of its new pizza pies, aimed at attracting younger consumers and families.
The hybrid pies combine a deep-dish pizza with a traditional pie, available in two varieties: Three Cheese and Pepperoni.
The Deep Dish Pizza Pies are filled with popular pizza toppings. For instance, the Three Cheese variety includes a blend of extra mature cheddar, mozzarella and Red Leicester, while the Pepperoni pie features tomato, extra mature cheddar and pepperoni.
Jason Manley, brand director at The Compleat Food Group, which owns Wall’s, said: “The typical Chilled Savoury Pastry shopper is older, so the category must become more relevant for younger consumers if it’s going to continue to grow".
“The Wall’s Deep Dish Pizza Pie is ideal for satisfying hungry kids after school, as well as working well as an after-work snack or part of a larger dinner. Launching with two popular pizza toppings, we are confident they will be a hit, and we look forward to introducing more recipes in the new year.”
The new range is currently available in Asda and convenience stores for an RRP of £2 per 150g.
