Nomad Foods-owned pizza brand, Goodfella’s Pizza, has launched a new range of stonebaked pizzas which are under 600 calories each.
The Light & Crispy Base range comes in two flavours, Margherita and Pepperoni, and is HFSS-compliant. They feature a newly formulated base, as well as a new and different mozzarella and pepperoni to the brand’s other ranges of pizzas – which are around 840 calories – that work to make the products extra light and crispy.
Sam Dolan, marketing manager at Goodfella’s, said: “Our research shows that shoppers are looking for more options when it comes to pizzas – but one thing they will not give up is great taste and overall enjoyment. Our new Light & Crispy base pizzas are an exciting step forward for the pizza category and will bolster our presence within the thin sector through true innovation.”
The new range was developed in response to feedback in which consumers stated their desire for a pizza under 700 calories that delivered on taste and indulgence. The Goodfella’s R&D team researched recipe development to renovate and innovate the pizzas, optimising individual components to formulate a light- and crispy-based pizza. In 2018, Nomad Foods acquired Goodfella’s from 2 Sisters Food Group, a Boparan Holdings subsidiary, for around €225 million. The new range is available now in Sainsbury’s stores, for an RRP of £3.40.
