Idilia Foods buys majority stake in dairy drinks maker Cacaolat

Idilia Foods buys majority stake in dairy drinks maker Cacaolat

Spanish food business Idilia Foods has acquired 50% of dairy drinks maker Cacaolat from beer company Damm.

The deal allows Idilia and Damm to jointly manage brands like Cacaolat, Laccao, ColaCao Energy, ColaCao Shake and Okey, strengthening both companies' positions in the dairy shake market.

Cacaolat will eventually integrate its brands – Cacaolat, Letona and Laccao – into the same management, marketing and distribution system used for the ColaCao Energy, ColaCao Shake and Okey shake brands. The move aims to enhance the development of the smoothie category and boost these brands' presence in national and international markets.

The agreement ensures that Cacaolat brand products will continue to be produced at their plant in Santa Coloma de Gramanet, Barcelona.

Cacaolat will remain independent under the leadership of its general director, Josep Barbena, aiming to accelerate growth in the dairy shake market both domestically and internationally.
