Irish Distillers to pause whiskey production for review in April 2025

Irish Distillers to pause whiskey production for review in April 2025

Irish Distillers, owned by spirits giant Pernod Ricard, has announced that its Midleton Distillery will temporarily pause whiskey production in early April 2025 as part of a routine, periodic review of its operations.

The company stated that the review is aimed at ensuring agility in its production cycles, supported by enhanced operational efficiencies and advanced production facilities.

Production is set to resume in the summer, with the distillery’s output aligning with the sustainable global growth of its Irish whiskey portfolio.

Irish Distillers told FoodBev: “We remain fully committed to the production of Irish whiskey at Midleton Distillery and have communicated this adjustment to our staff, suppliers, customers and contractors to enable forward business planning”.

The decision places Pernod Ricard alongside Diageo in halting whisky production. On Friday 7 March, Diageo suspended operations at one of its Kentucky whiskey distilleries.
