Skip launches 'first CBD-compliant' drink in the UK

Skip has officially launched what it claims to be the first British-made cold-pressed active CBD drink that complies with the latest UK CBD guidelines.

With a formulation that features up to eight times the beneficial strength of standard CBD isolate, Skip's drinks are designed to navigate the increasingly stringent regulatory landscape surrounding CBD products.

Each 250ml can of Skip contains 5mg of cold-pressed active CBD, adhering to the latest guidance from the UK Food Standards Agency, which recommends a maximum daily intake of 10mg.

The drink is complemented by natural fruit juices and botanicals, and notably does not contain soya lecithin, making it a health-conscious choice for consumers.

Skip offers three sparkling variants: Peach & Ginger, Elderflower & Mint and Lemon & Basil, with a recommended retail price ranging from £1.79 to £2.99 per can, or £6 for a four-pack.

This pricing strategy positions Skip as an accessible option for a wide range of consumers, aiming for mass market penetration.

The brand is targeting various distribution channels, including supermarkets, convenience stores, wholesalers, health food retailers and foodservice operations.

Skip’s founders, who have experience in the UK CBD and fast-moving consumer goods sectors, have collaborated with a team of scientific researchers at the University of Oxford to ensure the product's efficacy and compliance.

Co-founder Adam Pritchard, known for the Pomegreat said: "Skip is the only CBD drink in the market which is fully compliant and future-proof. Our proprietary cold-pressed process allows it to sit outside any Novel Foods regulations imposed by the FSA since March 2020."

The cold-pressed CBD used in Skip’s drinks is considered premium due to its gentle manufacturing process, which preserves the natural compounds of the hemp plant, including cannabinoids and terpenes. This method ensures faster absorption and avoids the use of harsh chemicals or high heat.

Skip debuted at the Grocery Aid Barcode Festival last month, generating interest among potential retail partners. The brand is currently in discussions with major UK retailers regarding stock availability.
