Twellium Industrial Company, a manufacturer of non-alcoholic beverages in West Africa, has announced a partnership with Sidel to establish a state-of-the-art packaging hub in Kumasi, Ghana.
This new facility will feature two complete PET packaging lines designed for both still and carbonated beverages, marking a significant expansion for Twellium in the region.
The Kumasi site, developed as a greenfield project, is Twellium's third production facility, complementing its existing plants in Accra, Ghana, and Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso.
The new facility includes comprehensive civil works, infrastructure and utilities, with Sidel providing expertise in the installation of advanced processing and packaging lines.
The facility is equipped with Africa's fastest complete PET water line, capable of producing 80,000 bottles per hour. This line uses Sidel’s Combi solution, which integrates blow molding, filling and capping processes into a compact system.
Additionally, the plant houses a complete line for carbonated soft drinks (CSD), which can bottle 65,000 bottles per hour, addressing the growing demand for CSDs in the region.
The investment in the Kumasi facility reflects Twellium's strategy to enhance production flexibility and meet diverse market demands.
The site will produce a range of beverages, including its flagship Verna Mineral Water, Rush Energy Drink, and other soft drinks under license from Monarch Beverage Company.
Incorporating advanced technology, the facility features a state-of-the-art water treatment room and an automated cleaning-in-place system to ensure high hygiene and food safety standards.
Furthermore, Sidel has implemented a customised EvoDeco Roll-Fed labeller that allows for the application of QR codes on bottle caps, enhancing product traceability in compliance with local regulations.
Ali Ajami, Twellium's marketing director, said: “Sidel's complete PET packaging lines for Twellium ensure that beverage production volume meets affordability, allowing us to keep up with the constant increase in demand".
He added: "This partnership not only drives efficiency but also creates more regional job opportunities, reinforcing Twellium as a proud leader in Ghana’s thriving beverage industry".
