Eurofins Food & Water Testing UK has acquired Salamon & Seaber, an analytical testing consultancy focused on FOSFA (Federation of Oils, Seeds and Fats Associations) and GAFTA (The Grain and Feed Trade Association) testing for imported products including food, feed and oils, as well as damaged cargo tests.
Salamon & Seaber, which was founded in 1910 and is based in the City of London, offers a wide range of UKAS-accredited analytical testing services including for oils, seeds, fats, cereals, grains and pulses.
The business is run by Michael Blotz who has been with the company for over 40 years.
"Salamon & Seaber has built an enviable reputation as the industry-recognised expert in FOSFA, GAFTA, commodities and feed testing," said Mark Carnaghan, managing director of Eurofins Food & Water Testing UK.
He continued: "Like Eurofins, the team truly prides themselves on providing reliable testing services to ensure the highest levels of quality and standards are met for a diverse range of customers".
Blotz said the acquisition marks "a new chapter" for Salamon & Seaber, where the company's principles of providing a trusted, personalized service will be "upheld and enhanced" as part of the Eurofins group.
Eurofins Food & Water Testing UK, which is supported by the group's global network of laboratories and competence centres, offers over 200,000 analytical methods to establish the safety, composition, authenticity, origin, traceability and purity of foods and water.
The acquisition bolsters Eurofins' presence in the UK market and expands its capabilities in specialised analytical testing for imported food, feed and related products.
