Saputo Dairy-owned cheese brand Cathedral City has partnered with chilled food-to-go manufacturer Summit Foods to launch three new convenience products.
The collaboration will see the debut of two Cathedral City toasties – a cheddar and ham variant, and a cheddar and Red Leicester variant – as well as a Cathedral City cheddar and ham croissant.
In a statement announcing the launch, Cathedral City said the partnership represents a strategic move to appeal to consumers seeking convenient and delicious snacking options while strengthening its presence in the chilled food category.
Abi Armson, Cathedral City’s senior brand manager, commented: “Our partnership with Summit Foods is a testament to our commitment to delivering innovative, high-quality options that meet the evolving needs of our customers”.
She added: “With consumers becoming increasingly time poor, shoppers are looking for quick, convenient and fresh meal solutions to satisfy their everyday food needs. Our new toasties and croissant tick all these boxes, whilst retaining the high quality and delicious taste that you would expect from Cathedral City.”
The range launched in 206 Sainsbury’s stores across the UK from 25 September 2024, with an RRP of £3.00 for each product. It will be located within the snacking area of the chilled fixture of the supermarket, outside of the traditional cheese aisle.
Cathedral City’s latest collaboration builds on the success of its other recently launched innovations, including its partnership with Heinz to launch Heinz Cheesy Beans earlier this year.
The brand has also made a number of recent additions to its core cheese offering, unveiling a brand-new high-protein and half-fat cheddar range, as well as a new smoked plant-based SKU, in September.
