Frozen dessert brand Doughlicious has teamed up with F&B giant PepsiCo to launch the new Extra Flamin’ Hot Cookie Dough & Gelato Bites.

The collaboration taps into consumer interest in products that combine sweet and spicy flavours – a flavour trend that has been dubbed ‘swicy’ and has sparked a number of creative NPD launches across the food and beverage industry in the last year.

Described by the brand as ‘a uniquely delicious combination of fire and ice,’ Doughlicious’ latest product features birds eye chilli cookie dough, wrapped around ghost chilli-infused gelato and dusted with a chipotle cookie crumb.

Doughlicious and PepsiCo’s sweet and spicy frozen treats are now available in the UK until the end of March via Ocado, Zapp, GoPuff and TikTop Shop, priced at £5 per pack of six bites.

Kathryn Bricken, founder of Doughlicious, commented: “When our friends at PepsiCo came to us with the concept of creating a collaborative product with Extra Flamin’ Hot, it was a no brainer for the Doughlicious team. It’s an honour to be participating in the launch of a new Extra Flamin’ Hot product with such an epic brand, and it was so much fun creating a Cookie Dough & Gelato recipe that both tastes indulgent and is super sneaky hot!”

The launch marks the expansion of PepsiCo’s Extra Flamin’ Hot snack offering, with the addition of limited-edition Walkers Extra Flamin’ Hot to the spicy crisp portfolio. It joins the Extra Hot Flamin’ Doritos, Walkers MAX and Wotsits Crunchy. PepsiCo has also partnered with Ginsters to launch an Extra Flamin’ Hot Sausage Roll as part of the expansion.
