Kavli UK appoints new managing director amidst flagship brand's centenary

Kavli UK, a division of

Kavli Group, has announced the appointment of Mark Butel as its new managing director. Kavli UK, known for its popular food brands such as Primula Cheese and Castle Maclellan pâté, has established itself as a household name. Primula Cheese – which celebrated its centenary in April this year – is a squeezable cheese product, available in major supermarkets and convenience stores, while Castle Maclellan's pâté is stocked in Asda, Tesco and Co-op outlets across the UK. Bringing over 15 years of experience at Kavli UK, Butel now steps into the role of managing director following nine years as head of sales for the company. Butel's appointment coincides with Primula's ambitious plans to broaden its market reach in 2024. Under his leadership, the company anticipates the rollout of impactful marketing strategies accompanied by a firm dedication to corporate social responsibility endeavours. Reflecting on his new role, Butel said: “It is an honour to lead Kavli UK during this historic milestone. Our commitment to excellence, coupled with our dedication to continued growth, being socially responsible and working together as a team, will guide us as we continue to provide high-quality products to our consumers.” Central to Butel's vision is the preservation and enhancement of Kavli UK's rich legacy, characterised by cherished brands that have earned a special place in the hearts of consumers nationwide. He added: “Kavli UK’s iconic brands, including Primula and Castle MacLellan, have a special place in the hearts of consumers. My vision is to build upon this legacy, fostering innovation and continued growth in the food sector.” Beyond its commercial efforts, the Group is owned by the Kavli Trust, a philanthropic organisation based in Norway. Demonstrating its unwavering commitment to social impact, Kavli Trust donated over £3 million to UK charities and local beneficiaries last year.
